Alien: Isolation review PC Gamer.
Set fifteen years after Ridley Scotts original film, Alien: Isolation sees you playing as Amanda Ripley, daughter of Ellen. Shes an engineer for megacorporation Weyland-Yutani, and embarks on a journey to the space station Sevastopol when she learns that the flight recorder for her mothers lost ship, the Nostromo, is being held therea potential clue to her whereabouts. But its clear from the moment she arrives on the ruined and mysteriously abandoned space-city that something has gone horribly wrong. Sevastopol is a labyrinthine warren of corridors, vents, and tunnels. Its in the process of being decommissioned, and is in a severe state of disrepair. Lights flicker, automatic doors malfunction, tangles of cable drip from maintenance panels, and steam spews from broken pipes. Occasionally the tight spaces open up into larger areas, but most of the game is spent in the claustrophobic confines of its twisting, metal bowels. Its the most visually striking game world since Deus Ex: Human Revolution. But while weve explored environments like this before in games like System Shock and Dead Space, its the art design that sets Isolation apart.
The makers of Alien" had everything designed except for the terrifying being itself and for that, they turned to H. R. Giger.
When he created the xenomorph, he purposely designed the creature to have no eyes, because he thought it would be more frightening if nobody knew in which direction it was looking. Ridley Scott was so amazed by Gigers design that he hired him to create set designs for the film, including the alien landscape of the planet LV-426, the derelict spacecraft, and its interior in which alien eggs were found, and various alien-related props.

HR Giger and the making of Alien Den of Geek.
In his diaries, Giger documented a difficult and tiring process in the making of Alien, from repeated late nights working on the final details of a set before shooting the next day, to arguments over his contract the artist's' employment was even terminated at one point, before he was reinstated a few days later. Giger deservedly won an Oscar for Best Visual Effects in 1980 a just reward for his hard work and singular vision. The Alien franchise continued, spawning three sequels, two Alien Vs Predator spin-offs, and the 2012 prequel Prometheus. Giger's' involvement in them varied from the minimal to the non-existent. After Alien, Giger never immersed himself in movie design to quite the same extent again, but he was involved in the production of such films as Poltergeist II, Species and Batman Forever his unique design for the Batmobile was sadly never used.
The Set Design of Ridley Scott's' Alien.
No respect for mothers instructions despite the set design dictating that this be the most regal and authoritative area of the otherwise downtrodden Nostromo. Ridley Scotts masterful direction of Alien remains one of the finest pieces of the craft in the history of cinema.
Alien: Production Design.
Alien s production screams classic Hollywood. The film was shot on good ol fashioned film, and principal photography took place on set at Pinewood Studios. During filming, actors walked the halls and air ducts of the Nostromo with nary a green screen in sight.
